: you concluded what BMW's purpose in redesigning the E36 was but I can assure you that the crash worthiness
BMW said crashworthiness was their main concern for the E46. This is well published in the press. They spent a lot money developing a brand new platform for this sole reason (it wasn't for the ride which was already perfect). Notice that the drivetrain has changed very little in the E46.
: data in the Dec. Auto-Bild keeps the A4 ahead of the E46. The E46 IS NOT safer than the A4.
E46 has 8 airbags vs. 4 airbags for the A4. BMW claims 3-series has the same equivalent crashworthiness as the 5-series. 5-series is the best in the world except for Toyota Sienna. Are you saying the A4 is equivalent to the 5-series and the best in the world??? I don't trust Auto-Bild, I'll wait for the Auto Motor und Sport test. They are the most comprehensive. I know the E46 is much safer.
:Furthermore, the move from 2 to 5 valves is NOT a major redesign
SOHC to DOHC, 2 valves to 5 valves, 20 more hp is not a major redesign to you??
: and seriousness in your responses. The testosterone release was admirable
At least BMW owners are giving you a forum to respond. Notice how you had to respond HERE to my post at A4.org because that forum practices blatant censorship and deleted my comments.
:What is this about the "2000 A4 is gonna suck"?
I predict the 2001 A4 is gonna suck because we all know Audi got lucky with the A4 design. If their car designers had any talent the A3,A6,A8, and TT would be successful too. There would be a www.audi.org and not just a www.a4.org.
: PS. My wife owns a A4 2.8Q, I have a 528i, and my brother-in-law has a CLK320. Don't call me biased and
PS. My wife owns a ML320. I own a E46 328i Sport, and my brother-in-laws' sister's co-worker owns an Audi S8
: Anton, don't practice stupidity.
Whatever. Free speech buddy.
