: Unintended Acceleration was a debunked myth.

couldn't pinpoint the problem doesn't mean it didn't exist--can you imagine the liability if they had. My mom was in the driveway, put the car in reverse and it just shot out of the driveway at full throttle--she managed to avoid the neighbors house and swerve it into the curb. It sounded like the motor was going to blow. She had a '79 5000 and it happended one or two years before the 60 minutes story. We just donated the car to a charity and got a Volvo-which is too bad because my mom loved the car. She was and still is a good, aggressive driver and I don't believe it was driver error. Anyway, that is in the past and Audi has greatly improved their product-no disagreement there at all.

: : 5000 in my youth. How did you know??? I guess every pedestrian was at one point or another.

: : : Do you sell BMWs or were you frightened by an Audi in your youth?

: : Isn't the engine in the New Beetle 1.8t the same engine A4 owners keep claiming can be chipped to 400hp to smoke a M3. Funny that same engine can't be modified in a VW with the $10,000 price difference between the Turbo Beetle and the Audi TT.

: : : BTW, the TT will easily beat the New Beetle 1.8t. It's lighter, has a lower center of gravity, more aggressive rubber and 20 more horses due to a larger turbo.
