Anyone at my workplace who finds out what car I bought responds with "We must be paying you too much." (even though my 328 doesn't cost much/any more than the SUV's in the lot.) They don't seem to be caught up in the image part of the BMW. My friends joke with me about owning a "rich person's car."

I think for as many people out there who THINK you bought the car as a status symbol, there are an equal amount of people who KNOW you bought the car for performance. I was telling an aquaintance of mine about buying a new car. I thought she was going to be surprised with my purchase. (She recently purchased a Volvo XC, instead of the MB SUV because of the stigma attached to Mercedes.) Anyway, she wasn't surprised. She said "you bought it because it's fast." Isn't that the truth!

Anyway, who cares what people think.
