Does this device work without the user knowing it, or is it the type of device where another display or function panel is added for the operation of the unit? I ask because you said that it's supposed to add features... and this seems like it would be impossible without additional buttons, etc. If you need to control this thing independently of the head unit, that stinks.

: and they just received an adapter that allows you to use an aftermarket (Sony or Alpine) cd changer with the prewiring in all 99 3 series (with I bus). It's also suppose to add features to your headunit (like random search) that is not available normally. I looked at the instructions and it DOES NOT work with vehicles equipped with AI bus. It says it works with any I bus system. The adapter is made by Soundgate ( Price was $150. Seems kinda steep, maybe you could get it someplace else cheaper. In anycase, it's a helluva lot cheaper than buying a OEM BMW changer! Enjoy folks.
