I test drove both. I didn't notice a performance difference. (Of course, you'd only notice it driving at the limits of the cars.) I am tall, and noticed the difference in cabin space. (The E46 now has more room, maybe because it is a sedan.) I was more comfortable in the E46. Like someone else said, if you can wait until June, you could have the E46 coupe. (I believe they're taking orders now.)
