While I agree that some BMW owners bought theirs for the image, I do not agree with the second part of your comment, "...status seekers who don't earn much more in a year than their cars cost."

Do you feel that people who makes less than six figure income are not deserving of a BMW? If someone who makes $30,000 or less managed to save enough to buy himself a BMW, then I have nothing but respect for him.

Now if I see a teenager driving it to school, then I don't feel that he "deserves" it. I don't care how well a kid does in school and how good a person he may be. Being sucessful in school does not equate to being sucessful in the real world. Parents should not use expensive gifts to entice their kids to get good grades. I'm getting off the topic, but you get my point.
