I had a chance to do a real world comparison between Bell and Whistler (mine was Bell 735i, if I remember correctly). Both were comparable model with similar features & prices.

Two same cars, different detectors, traveling side by side from WI to Seattle,WA (3 days driving).

My impression was that Bell gave more false warning than Whistler.
During the cases where the warnings were real, Whistler reacted first (longer range) compared to Bell.

After 2 days of hot summer driving, on the third day my Bell experienced weird "malfunctioning" where it would not stop beeping.

I have known 3 friends that tossed out their Bell detectors after about 1 year due to malfunctioning. (one just quit working, two kept beeping all day long).

Note that all of us always took the detector off the winshield when parking (to avoid prolong baking under the sun) and we never store the detectors in the car overnight during the winter.

I can't say Bell is not reliable, but the data seems to suggest so.

: Does anybody have any experience with BEL 945i cordless radar detector? How long do the batteries last?
