Totally agree... I have also gone through a few (3 for me) other detectors before finally plunking down the $400 for the V1. I wish I had just gotten it to begin with. Only advantage is that I keep my old detectors in the glovebox in case I get caught in one of those three states where detectors are outlawed. That way I can give the cop one of my old useless detectors for him to destroy or whatever they do with them.

: There is NO cordless radar detector whose performance approaches that of corded models of the better manufacturers. I've used both Escort and Bel models, and they were both pieces of s___! I could go into detail, but shortcomings too many (battery hassels excluded).

: If you want better performance, you'll buy one of the name brands' better corded models. If you want the ABSOLUTE best, you will buy a Valentine One.

: Compared to it, everything else is a toy. Once you see and use one, you will know why. Of course it will cost you $400 (available ONLY direct from manufacturer), but has a lifetime guarantee to the original buyer and the manufacturer upgrades the circuitry at a modest charge when such upgrades make it into new models.

: I have no financial interest in Valentine, but after throwing away 4 others over the years, I finally have one worth keeping.
