Yeah, I've been hearing the outs of the alpine
in the E46 are not line level... but I don't know
why that would require "replacing everything".
Most amps these days accept line level, boosted
and plenty in between.
What the heck is Ibus?
: I'm also planning on replacing everything with MB Quart speakers, Precision power 2100 + 4100 amps, and a JL Audio 12" W6 sub. It should rock when I'm done. Funny that yours is almost the same ...
: However, I'm also going to replace the head unit. This is where I get the biggest problem. The dash opening is not standard, so my local audio shop is going to have to custom fabricate ($$$) a panel. They showed me a 328 that they had already done, and it looks really nice. They've even matched the dash line.
: I've called Schoshe, and Metro works, both reputable vendors of dash kits and neither have any plans for a kit for the new 3 series.
: The problems you'll probably run into are that the head unit isn't using line level outs. It's an Alpine derivative (I've heard) that uses IBus? Unless you replace everything, you can't really replace the amp. You can however, replace the speakers.
