I've called several dealers in the Bay Area and got different quotes from all of them.
Here's the history:

1. San Franciso BMW: Had no clue what to charge, and promiced to call back. Never did.

2. Sonnet (sp?) BMW, Marin: Wanted 1 hour labour (a little more then $100).

3. Waterford (sp?) BMW, Berkeley: Wanted 2 hours, after I've complained it's a 5 minute job they asked where did I get my info. I've said that installed it myself for under an hour, and read programming instruciotns. I've also mentioned this board and people's feedback. They suggested I program the alarm myself (!!!) if I was ok putting it in. After this answer, I would stay away faaaar from them for any BMW work you may need.

4. Peter Pan BMW, San Mateo: I've called them up first, since they were the ones I've got my car from. When I asked for quote to program the alarm, they right away told me 1/2 hour, and 1 hour to put it in and program. They charge something very close to $107/hour. After I got my car back, the invoice only showed $32 charge. I'm not sure if this is a mistake, but I didn't complain. Before I turned the car in, I've mentioned that for this kind of car, they could do the 5-minute programming job for free, but they just smiled in ruturn.

I do not have a name of the person I've talked to, well, I probably do at home (I'm at work now). The service department is not too big there. If have problems, I will lookup the contact name.
