I just purchased and received my 328i sport/manaual, and sold my 1996 GSR. I only test drove the 328i one time before I purchased. For one
week right after receiving my 328i I drove both cars on and off. I
must say I used to think that the GSR was the best thing, I had
leather, all the options. But one week with the 328i and it makes the
Integra feel like a corolla in terms of clutch, interior appointments,
and just lack of a "solid" feel. I feel like I'm in a tank in the
328i. I lowered my integra and I believe my BMW has just as good or
even better handling than the lowered GSR. This puppy has a lot of
rigidity, great cornering on the 225/45 R17 tires. As for RWD vs. FWD
I haven't pushed the BMW 'til it steps out so.... that will have to
wait until I get past the nervous factor of driving a $40,000 car =).
But one thing you will notice is the understeer is GONE! I love it...
no more pulling feeling when you accelerate out of a turn. As for the
REDLINE, you'll miss it, I do. Nothing like an 8,000 rpm. And
shifting you have to be careful, not only on the upshift but also
which gear to downshift to... My problem has been going from fourth to
third when I really need to go from fourth to second... you don't hear
the car straining inthird you can only feel it a second later and then
downshift to second...
But on the postive side, girls love the new BMW. I'm not being sexist
or nothing, but I have to admit once people noticed I got a new BMW a
couple ex's were calling me more frequently...=) go figure. I pray
you got the xenon option because after 2 weeks, I still get a kick out
of them when I turn them on.
