I'm not trying to start another A4 vs E46 pissing contest nor am I trying to make excuses for the E46's lost (this message is posted on and intended for E46 owners), but C&D's poor choice of interior appointments effected their subjective driver comfort and ergonomic scores. Just compare the scores between April and November Tests. In November the E46 had better ergonomics than A4, in April they are the same. Ergonomics scores should stay the same. In November they tied for driver comfort. In April the A4 is all of a sudden more comfortable. Explain that.

: 1) Black is a very popular color. If they had picked a metallic color, the price would have been up another $475 over the lower priced competition.

: 2) armrest is not a factory option that C&D could have had on the car without ordering from the parts department.

: 3) Black with sand interior is a popular combination. Personally I don't care for a black car, but it certainly doen' make the E46 look ugly.

: 4) The multi-function steering wheel is one of the few ways to add cruise control, something that is shamefully optional on the 323i.

: 5) I agree on the foglights, but then again those are optional on the base 323i.
