Don't believe this has come up either. I have seen pictures of the coupe with and without same color body molding. It is possible that it may be an option to get body color molding. It could also be that body color molding comes with the sport package. It may also be possible that the 328 comes with body color molding and the 323 comes with black. Anyway, I don't think it's a model year thing. I think it's a coupe thing.

BTW, why do you think it's not desireable for people to know what model year your car is? If they change the moldings for the '00 and on sedans, then you will have a (relatively) unique first year production E46 with black molding.
