You don't actually pick up the car at the plant. You pick it up at the factory dealership, I think the address is Frankfurter Ring 35 in Munich. You can get there by TAXI or the U-Bahn (Metro). The nearest dropoff point is at the Garching office of E.H. Harms which is about a 10 to 15 minute drive north east of Munich.
As far as communicating with people is concerned, you are pretty safe just speaking English in Germany. Through my many trips to Europe and 2 Euro Delivery experiences I have found that about 90% of the people I encountered in Germany unserstood and spoke English. There are less people that speak English in some of the other countries, but you can still communicate with them with slight difficulty. The only place that I have had problems on a consistant basis is France. I have had many encounters in Paris where I would ask questions from store employees or waiters and they would answer in French, without the slightest attempt to say any of the words in English or at least point to things to make me understand what they are saying. And these were all tourist areas where you would expect them to speak English. I have been told by others in Paris that did speak English, like hotel employees, that many of these people CAN speak English, but they just don't want to. Don't let that discourage you though, Euro Delivery is a great experience.
