I have modified other cars, japanese. and I was very dissapointed with the outcome of the modifications. It might be a good idea to get your car dynoed before and after you modify to really see if there is a power change. If you don't know what a dyno is, basically it measures how much hp and torque a car has. Typically the car loses power by the time it comes to the wheel, aronud 15-30% depending on the car and if its a manual or auto. A stock M3 puts out 207 hp on a dyno while it has 240 at the flywheel.
I have heard that it is covered. Dinan has its own warranty that matches the bmw warranty. I have heard that Jim C Chips are excellent, read about giving cars 10+ hp. Honestly I only felt a lot of power in cars if you go Turbo or SC 80+hp. If you go naturally aspired then you can squeeze out 25-40 hp. Chips run around $300-400. Basic modifications to start with are air filter(50), exhast(300+), chip(300-400), headers(800), throttle body(not sure). Start with a chip, filter and exhast. Should cost $1000 and I'm sure you can feel some difference. Make you get a before and after dyno test!!
