all this talk about who makes the transmission is great, BUT it doesn't answer my question. Which was if anyone else has experienced this, and if I should be concerned and bring it in to be looked at. I know the dealer will probably say they couldn't duplicate the problem. to tell you the truth, it's been fine the last 400 miles. so this was just a freak 1 time incident (so far).

: This might have been a freak incident, but I was just wondering if anyone has experienced sudden loss of power?

: I was driving down to NJ last night to pickup some relatives at the airport, when I got to NY, I stopped at a red light, then when the light turned green, I stepped on the gas, the rpms went sky higy (over 5k) the car didn't start as usuall, instead it inched very slowly forward.
: I double checked and it was indeed in gear (S 4, automatic)
: tried switching to D,4,3,2 but still the same thing.

: after crawling at about 3 mph for about 5 mins, then things
: went back to normal.

: no warning light came on and the drive back to MA afterwards was fine.

: Any reason I should be concerned? Any idea what happened?

: Jack
