: : Here's a few observations for those of you who are thinking about a MY2000 Coupe.
: : (1) The car is georgeous.
: : (2) Some details such as the mirrors (with cut grooves on the top to prevent wind 'whistle') look great --- and I haven't noticed anyone mention them before.
: : (3) The car at the show had a different 3-spoke wheel than comes on the 4dr sport. (The bottom spoke splits a little into two.)
: : (4) If you like blue like I do, you'll probably like the topaz over the current offerings in the 4dr.
: : (5) In spite of the huge crowd interested in BMWs, it is terribly dissipointing that BMWNA can't find SOMEONE who knows the cars as well as half the attendees. Can't they hire someone who give a crap about the 'little' details? I mean who didn't learn all those little details when they were first captivated by their first bimmer.
: : (6) Have to admit Audi did a good job on their booth as well. Especially 'TT'. I don't subscribe to the group that feels compelled to knock those guys. (teasing within reason can be fun --- and we're blessed we don't have to argue the fine points with the Camaro crowd.)
: thanks all info appreciated.
: mirror windsplits in my post of latest AUTOWEEK article.
: It has been hard for me looking at pictures to discern if there is any "grillework" in the lower air intake (below license plate area). Any cross-
: hatching there (like M3,& E46 328i)? Are there double bars in the fog light area? Did they have 323&328 there & were they different in this area?
: (I am not refering to the aero pkg.)
: I have negotiated for my coupe. Was going to get Orient Blue. Topaz looks good. Any comments on the new yellow color? Is it a gold?
: Door panels a different design (not just longer)?
: Thanks for your info. Your posts are always good.
: Mike W.
I took a number of 'up-close' pictures to help me document what I saw, and hope to have them available in a few days. They should help you somewhat with exterior details because I took mostly detail shots, including a number of shots of specific front-end stuff.
The interior is another thing. Car was locked, and the windows had fingerprints galore, so sorry, can't say for sure about door panels. The only coupe was the 328 w/sptpkg, over-view photos of which I've seen posted by others earlier.
Thanks for complement on my posts. I sometimes wonder if I'm boring everyone, but my nature is to push the dialog so I can learn more. And, as many have noted before, this is therapy for those of us who are waiting for our cars. (Already sold my E36--- so I've been without a bimmer for the first time since 1984 --- when I bought a '79 '3' for my senior year in college with the money I saved from my summer job.)
