: My wife drives a 98 A4 2.8Q Avant. We recently traded in a 97 900 SE Turbo Coupe for the 328i Sedan (sports package/covenience package/5-speed/black-tan int). It is an AWESOME car. However, for the $$$$ the A4 is as good as the BMW. Love em both...I felt that we were nickeled and dimed with the BMW...37K and no mats or alarm system...that is absurd...
Audi's selling point is that you can get a loaded A4 for cheaper than a loaded 3er. I think they're right in this respect. The one thing which irks me about BMW is how many more $1000's you have to spend to get a few options, relative to other cars in the same price range (other than Benz, which is about the same).
We can't really blame BMW for this too much, I suppose, since Audi has VW to mass produce 60% of the parts for it, which dramatically reduces the cost adding options.
