About a month ago I talked to Randy also. He verified that I was using the correct clips. However, he wasn't able to suggest anything that would allow my front passenger side door to accommodate the clip. (The driver's side was OK, as were the rear towers/clips.)

After experimenting and thinking about it I decided the Thule rack that uses the BMW mount points would be a better solution for my car. YMMV

PS If the clips had the exact radius of the top of the door frame, they all would have fit. The thickness of the clip per se is not the problem. As it is, the 90 degree bend is made from two adjacent 45 degree bends and it is these corners that prevent the door from closing properly.

: Glenn, Colin, and everyone:
: Just got off the phone with the head service rep for Yakima; his name is Randy, and if you any questions (I know it's a little late, Glenn, but maybe you two can discuss what happened to your car), and he can be reached at 1-888-925-4621, extension 8144. If you want to e-mail hime, you can do so at [email protected]
: He sounded pretty positive that the clips could work, and said they don't have any plans to use the mounting studs in the roof at this time.
: Good luck,
: Rick
