: :
: When I ordered my 328i I also ordered the NAV system.
: But when I started comparing the different systems I soon noticed that the BMW factory installed system (Philips Carin) is not as technologically advanced as some of the other systems. Some arguments:
: Does not have automatic intersection zoom
: Really slow processor (takes a long time to recalculate route)
: I don't like the way the map is displayed
: Did not like the voice
: Directions sometimes came way too early (e.g. turn left in 4 miles)

: This among other things made my cancel the order for the nav system. When I got the car I installed the Alpine navigation system which works great for me. The position of the display makes it more comfortable to read IMO.
: And last but not least it cost me $2000 less than the factory installed system...
: Of course that is my personal opinion, I'm sure there are many people who are happy with the factory nav.
