One of the reasons I bought the car. (Anticipating having it ten years.) You'll get 2 oil changes for free as well as inspection-I with the 3 years scheduled maintenance. If you do an oil change yourself, it'll run about $30. (BMW recommends oil changes @15Kmiles, I prefer a little more often.) The fluids in the transmission and differential are supposed to be 'lifetime' fluids. I believe the car also has 'lifetime' sparkplugs. I would think you might want to change these in the course of ten years as well.

As far as tune-ups and parts. Well, European parts tend to be more expensive than US/Japanese parts. But the general wear items like brake pads aren't going to cost that much more. Don't imagine you'll have to replace anything more than (brake)pads, rotors, tires, and clutch over the course of ten years.

just my 0.02
