Not out in a few months. The A6 4.2(V8-300hp) will be out in a few months in the US. Of course, no manual transmission. The car you are talking about (S6) won't be out until late this year, early next year. And probably run around $50K. The A6 4.2 will probably be in the low-mid $40's.

The A6 4.2 will offer a sport package, and Audi is trying to turn their center of gravity back to the A6. I don't know how good the handling performance is--never read a review. The nice things about the A6 are AWD and a slightly larger car. (It is supposed to compete with the 5er not the 3er.) Cons are it doesn't come with manual transmission, is currently underpowered and doesn't handle as well as BMW.
