OK I see your point but like I said I'm not getting any problem so far but it looks like so many others are saying they have it and I do belive them. But as far as I can tell my car is just fine. And than again I only have 250 mile on it so far.
: I just made the Internet Psycology term up, but this whole thing with the steering problem is starting to get strange. I have a feeling that some people are starting to imagine that they have it, or worry that they might have it, or want it fixed whether they personally can detect anything wrong or not (because the problem must be there, somehow).
: Quite a few people here have contacted their dealers regarding the situation, and a typical response seems to be that no one has complianed about this yet. I have yet to take delivery of my car, but I did contact the salesman and manager. They contacted the service dept. and got back to me with the info. that nobody has complained to their dealership about this yet (a big one in So. Cal.) The salesman said he contacted 5 people that he sold 3-series cars to, and none of them had this problem.
: I guess my question is, how many people on this forum that have the steering problem would NOT have the steering problem is other people on the forum were not complaining about it, and they weren't reading about it daily?
: Now, I don't have a clue as to whether there is anything to the "problem" or not, personally. I'm convinced that most people aren't making it up. (Although I've wondered about how many problems DO get made up - by owner's of other brands, by high school kids out to see what they can stir up, or whatever).
: I wonder if I, or someone, could invent a "problem" out of thin air, post my sad story on the forum, and if others would start posting that they, too, had the same problem with their car.
: How about this one (made-up!): The action of the engine in response to the accelerator pedal seems very detached. Sometimes I push the accelerator pedal down maybe 1/4 of the way, and the car just takes off. Other times, it doesn't do much of anything. I'm afraid I'm going to rear-end somebody! My dealer says that this is impossible, but I know they are covering it up. Anybody else have this happen? Should we complain to the NHSTA?
