The part itself most likely costs upwards of $400. (IIRC a bumper for my Maxima costs $350 retail). Wholesale is probably 70% of that. Expect another $200-$300 for painting and installation.

I'm not sure if it's worth it if you're happy with the dots. If you do go through with it, make sure they use high quality OEM paint and a good shop. The front bumper's paint takes more abuse than the paint on any other part of the car.

Hope this helps.

: ...anyone have any idea? I'd like to know what my chances for getting a new bumper are. I think I'd probably end up getting the round around. I got the car in Tallahassee (a couple of hundred miles from where I live) who got the car from Huntsville, Alabama who (I think) got the car from another dealership. (nevertheless the car only had a few miles on it). I'm not concerned about any water leakage, the two screws and cap pretty much seal the hole water-tight, but I'd still like to get a new bumper. I just seriously have my doubts...

: : I'm sorry to be negative here, but to me it sounds like the dealer put screws where there were no holes. This is a big no-no, in my humble opinion.

: : You might think it looks cool now, but down the road those black dots will begin to annoy you more an more, and who knows (?), maybe water will begin to leak through those holes, as will unsightly dirt and bug juice...

: : I wouldn't accept it. In your place, I would go back and politely ask for a brand new bumper. (OEM, not imitation), with OEM quality paint.

: : : I went to install a flush bumper strip in place of the license plate holder on the front bumper only to find the bottom holes of the license plate screwed INTO the bumper. Removing the piece revealed two ugly drilled holes in the bumper (with tiny bits of the original color torn off no less) This infuriated me. I ended up putting two screws in the holes and covering the heads with those black license plate caps. Now I have two black dots in the middle of my bumper. The color of the car is silver (of course) and to be honest the two caps look kinda cool (they add a little character). Nevertheless it ticks me off that the dealer would drill into my bumper. Has anyone come across this problem? What did you do?
