Driving very aggressivly (floring it at every stop light/sign) I get around 18mpg in the city and 28 on the highway in my 328i auto. Driving normally I get 22 to 23 mpg in the city and around 31 on the highway.

a 60/40 mixture of highway/city gets me around 27 to 28mpg.

if you have a stick, it should be 1 or 2 mpg better.

Overall I'm very pleased with the fuel economy of my 328ia. It is on par with the 96 318is I had but much more powerful and refined.

: car has about 1700 miles; automatic; got 19.3 MPG, all 233 miles in check was city (Boston) driving, stop and go, never above 40 mph. Unknown mix of 91 and 93 octane. better than 18 mpg advertised in brochure. Air conditioner on unknown %age of time; I did not try to get high mpg, drove like typical Boston driver; I wanted to check out BMW's truth in advertising.
