I have the same problem with my 98 323is! The only difference is that I live in Texas where it is still 90+ degrees into October! Not very pleasant! By the time the air is cool enough I am almost all the way home. One suggestion is to roll down windows and let the hot air out while running the air conditioner at full blast for about 2-5 minutes. This seems to alleviate some of the problems. This is one of my only complaints about my car so far. Hope this helps!

: Hello readers, This message is to inform potential 323 coupe owners of severe air conditioning problems with the car. Also to seek professional advice from anyone who knows about this problem, and has a remedy for it.

: I own a new 2000 323 coupe. I live in Southern California. Average temps here are between 70 and 80 degrees year round. From day one after I made the purchase, I learned that this car didn't get cold.

: I have to max the temperature to 59 degrees (recirculation on) at full blower for 15 minutes, then things start to get comfortable. The car never gets freezing or cold.

: I learned that the coupe didn't even have an auxiliary air conditioning fan in it, but the 4 door sedan did! The dealership had to retrofit one. Without it, the car at idle (at an intersection, on a hot day) was uncomfortable and hot. This helped a little.

: I am extremely disappointed. Such a beautiful car, and costly one, has an inferior air conditioning system in it. The paint is black, with sand interior. Obviously, black cars are hotter than others, but the $10,000 chevy rental I had while mine was in the shop, was freezing cold.

: My previous car was a 1997, 318i 4 door. It was black, and also on the new "non-freon" system. It got freezing cold within a few minutes.

: Do not purchase a black 2000 323 coupe with black interior. It is worse than my existing problem!!! Black interior will kill you on warm days!

: If anyone has any information or technical know-how on what I can do, to upgrade the a/c system, or change componnets, or anything... please email me at orlin@calserve.com. You can also call me at 909-517-1107.

: Regards,

: Orlin C. Chino Hills, California...
