Alpine stereo in Y2K 323i, Help! (archive)

Posted by Paul on September 23, 1999 at 01:12:27:

I just had a top of the line Alpine system installed
in my 323i and am finding that the system is really bass-shy. I had the shop install an enclosed 10"
sub-woofer in the trunk followed by a 12" to no avail.
The installer said that because the 323i is so well
insulated, that the bass is not coming through to
the cabin. When opening the trunk the bass is more
than adequate, but not from inside the car.

Any suggestions? It really bugs me that I spent a tidy
sum on a good stereo, but can't get much bass response.
