: is the normal time that it should be before the Dealer gets back from them all the production information. And is the boat the car will be shipped on included on that info? Thx
***Be assertive, but professional, with your dealer. Let him know that you know what is going on and that you want to be kept updated on your car's status.
Ask your dealer for an assigned production slot and have him confirm it with a BMW system printout (Vehicle Inquiry).
This will make him allocate one of his slots to you and end the game playing of when is your car going to be built, delivered, etc.
Ask your dealer for a slot that will enable you to make changes and 'customize' the car to your taste. (He also may already have an open slot with a car specified that is close to the options you want so you can skip this step...)
Then have him give you a BMW system 'Vehicle Inquiry' printout showing your car with those options and status code. Check the status code ledger in Kris' FAQ and keep asking your dealer for updated printouts.....its your right!
Eventually, depending on the slot he assigns you, the scheduled production date will be assigned and it should give you a production workweek.
Production takes about a week, getting it on a ship can take a week (again the Vehicle Inquiry printout will show the ship name), then its another week to the East coast and an additional two weeks to the West coast. Add a week for processing through the VPC and trucking to dealer and it is finally yours!
