I am at work and don't have the manual but from what I recall
the rust perforation warranty is like 8 years.
I think for one of the scheduled services (which recurs at some interval), they wash the bottom of the car and visually inspect for rust damage (as a requirement for warranty above)
They didn't specifically said aftermarket undercoating isn't recommended, I think they just mentioned the fire hazard thing as a precaution if applying the coatings near the exhaust components.
I might add, just hose the undercarriage/fender areas during your carwash or when prudent and you'll be alright.
I'm in NY too. I don't deem extra undercoating necessary. Maybe back in the days...
