Bay Area People: Black, cruddy rain yesterday? (archive)

Sorry for the Bay Area specific post, but am I the only one who's a little concerned about the black crud that rained onto my car yesterday?

Apparently, there's an old-tire dump north of here that's on fire, and the soot/nuclear fallout from that fire was dissolved in the rain yesterday. That crud is pretty hard to get off your car! I went to the high-pressure car wash around the corner on my way home last night, and the stuff wouldn't come off! Luckily, with some rubbing, you can get it off, so I think it's time for a thorough hand wash this weekend...

BTW, I just got back from Germany this Sunday, where I drove an M5 on the Autobahn -- what a car!
