: I'm leaving for Munich in a couple of weeks to pick up my new ride. Many of you have traveled this path before. What things did you do (car or travel related) that you specifically would do again? What would you do differently? What did you wish you knew before leaving for Europe?

: I've already booked a tour at the factory (first stop from the delivery center). While I'm interested in travel suggestions (e.g. best driving routes), I'm particularly interested in things I should bring with me, take care of in the States, or plan on addressing on arrival.

: Thanks

I've been to Germany several times and driven LOTS. I suggest the Black Forest, the Ahr valley, Berlin, and Dresden (the latter two especially for the history). Those are some of my favorites! It's grape picking season (to my best recollection) and Ahr is vineyard area with stunning beauty. The Bodensee is lovely, and my favorite town was Uberlingen. Good luck and have fun, my Eurodelivery is 14 Jan 00, and I'm envious of you. I also suggest you get a good map with the historic sites (castles, kirchen, etc.) delineated with symbols, it helps you decide where to stop.
