: To me, the three series seem a natural for a coupe. It's smallish, performance oriented, somewhat but not overly practical. But BMW sells more four doors than two doors. Is it my imagination, but isn't this car a little to little to really work as a family car. And for the not insubstantial $$,$$$, there are bigger, more practical cars that still perform pretty well. Why do so may people buy the sedan version?

1. It looks better (IMHO)
2. It doesn't require passengers to perform odd contortions to get in and out of the back seat like my old E30 3-series coupe did.
3. More practical, but just as fun to drive, and same performance.
4. Less expensive (more car for less money).
