: : : I've gotten invoice +2200 for my Y2K 328i and I've already paid the deposit. Reading the posts here, I realized that
: : : I paid too much.
: : : Can I get my deposit back and negotiate with another dealer
: : : willing to do better on the price. Did anybody fall into
: : : this situation?

: : : Appreciate your help.

: : Is this an order car or is it one of the dealer's on lot cars?

: : How long a go did you put down the deposit and how much?

: : If it's an order car did the dealer meet his promise delivery time (has the time promised come and gone with no car in-site)?

: Thanks, gercar for the response.

: Answers to your questions:

: 1) Car was not on the lot.

: 2) I ordered it early last week w/500 deposit.

: 3) I got an ETA of 6wks.

: Thanks

if you ordered the car less than two weeks a go chances are very high that the car is not in BMW's build schedule yet and it's not to late to cancel. If the dealer claims that it is to late ask for the build code and then contact BMW customer service and explain your situation, they should be happy to confirm the dealers claims.

Also get a promised delivery date in writing that way when 6 weeks comes and goes you have cause to cancel your order (just in case). Also, some states don't allow to keep the deposit even if the dealer holds up his end (New Jersey is like that).

I hope this is of some help.
