My Jet Black 323Ci did the exact same thing!!! It took me washing the car to notice the imperfections. I spent a month going round and round with dealers and factory reps.. Refuse to take delivery of the car and order another. If that is not an option, do not let them paint or wet-sand your 323!!! They should replace your car with a new one (e.g. "substitution of collateral") at no cost to you. Good luck and let me know if you need more details of my experience.
: I recently bought a y2k 323i and before taking delivery noticed some issues with the paint that needed to be taken care of. After further inspection I discovered small paint bubbles on the cars roof and passengers side pillars, I included these problems on a list with various other things that needed addressing. My salesman after talking with the service people about the bubbling, told me that he might as well give me my Honda Accord back because they would need to repaint the car in order to fix these problems. I didnt think that was the right way to handle the situation. So my question is, should I be very concerned about less than perfect BMW paintwork? Or is this a common quality problem with newer BMWs? any comments would be appreciated.
