Well the trips to the Dealership, the headaches and bitching are over with. About 3 weeks after I got my 328i(Feb of this year)The steering/braking vibration problem started.
The first trip to the Dealer they were not able to reproduce the problem. The second trip in they replaced the rotors. The third time I was told the brakes were not resurfaced to match the new rotors. The forth trip they rebalanced and rotated the wheels(which the owner's manual clearly says not to, and had no answer other than a couple stutters to get out the word "WaWaWa...WelWel..WELL" When I asked about that! Also on the forth trip I got more than rebalanced wheels..I got rebalance scratched wheels. Two of the rims had them, it was more like they were curbed! The outer ridge had about a 6 inch gulag both in the same on the wheels. So after four trips with nothing corrected and now two scraped rims I decided to look into the Lemon Law process.
I first talked to the Dealership about what I was going to do before starting the process, but no luck, I guess since I was just talking about it they didn't think nothing of it and kind of just blew it off. So with the help of another Message Board friend(don't want to say name, but you know who you are, your help made the difference...THANK YOU VERY MUCH!) I was able to get all the information and papers needed to start the process. So after I had all my letters typed, the forms filled in and ready to mail them, needed the name of the owner for the Dealership I bought the car from. So with all my papers in-hand I went to the Dealership to talk to the Service Manager, once I explained that I was not talking about starting the process anymore, I was mailing the forms today...it became a totally different story. I told him I needed the name of the owner for the Dealership so he/she could be copied on the letters and forms, he asked me if he could review the letters and forms for a minute. After reading what I had he asked me if I had five minutes that he would be right back. He walked away and I watched him walk straight to the Sales Manager office(they have glass walls) They both came back to his office and starting talking about bringing the car back one more time before I mailed the packet and things like that. I told them "I really don't have time for this, you had four chances already and I just stopped by to get the owners name, I have to get to the Post Office before they close!" The Sales Manager said, OK I will be right back....About ten minutes later he came back and asked me to follow him, we go into his office and says there is someone on the phone who would like to talk me! I picked up the phone and the man introduced himself as the owner of the Dealership and that my situation was explained to him and he wanted to make it right and apologized a number of times. He said he wanted to meet with me the next day in person to take care of this and promised up and down that there was no need to mail the packet everything would be taken care of by him personally! So the next day I go back and right from the start it was like walking into a totally different Dealership, before the owner came out three people greeted me by name and the Sales Manger was asking me about traffic and the weather?!? So he finally came out introduced himself again and we went into the office. I really didn't have to say much after that, he said he is going to take back my 328i and will order me another one to replace it. I was a little worried about the same problem happening again so pushed for a Ci this time. "No problem, need to make you feel better about this!" So about another half hour of talking and the order form came out! They will be replacing my 328i with a 2000 328Ci. I quess a happy ending to bad story!
So the whole waiting game starts again! If you thought it was bad the first time, try going through it twice!
