As from the last post--I went through some snow showers (no more than 3-4") with the summer tires last winter. Being we've had a few mild winters the past few years--I'm expecting a bad winter soon. I don't want to try to drive with 'summers' in a bad winter. However, I only live one mile from work, and could easily walk if I needed to.

In August I checked out with Eddie (Tirerack) how much some 16" ATP wheels with snows would run. THe estimate was around $1200. I wasn't ready to spend that kind of money on lower performance etc. Recently I've been considering getting some forged wheels for autoX/track. I figure I could put summer tires (the Contis until they wear out) and put snows on the OE 17" wheels. In this case I'd be considering Pilot Alpin or similar H-rated snow tire. I'll try and keep you up to date.
