Although the lemon laws are largely state specific, the sunroof problem would have to substantially impair the vehicle (i.e. resale value or safety) to qualify as a lemon law claim. Many states require four unsuccessful visits or 30 days in the shop for the same problem to activate the lemon law. It is not clear from your post whether you have a transmission problem. If so, then you would have a better shot at a lemon law claim.
As far as being too late to file an action, this is once again a state specific issue, the lemon law is usually availible as long as the vehicle is still under the original manufacturor's warranty.
