I was looking at one of of the Toyota sites(my iwfe has an '94 Camry with 101k. I found a woman complaining that her '95 Camry was a piece of junk, that it had all sorts of things wrong with it, that her '93 For Taurus (!) had been a much more reliable automobile! My point, what you read here is hardly a representative relevant sample of owner experiences. I don't care what kind of car you want to choose, there will be some people who have bad experiences with them, whether the vehicle came from the factory that way or whether the dealer screwed them up later.
: It looks like with all the problems occuring in the new E46 BMW is loosing its edge. BMW is focusing more on bumping up its sales and the quality is going down the drain.

: With the e46 coupes running around $40K I would just go for a Benz CLK coupe and be assured of the quality one expects after paying $40k.
: A BMW enthusiast (not for long).
