Move your turn signal stalk up or down, as if
you were signaling left or right, and after you
take the key out of the ignition your parking
lights will be lit. Very useful, even in the states,
and the car will turn them off if voltage drains
too much (battery will have charge to start the
car, i presume) as per owner's manual.

: Alot of European roads are very narrow and dark/poorly lit, so parking your very expensive car on the side of the road might not besuch a good idea, if it wan't for parkin lamps.

: The way I take it, you turn on the side that is facing the road, ie. the side the people would hit if your car wasn't illuminated!! This warns people where the edge of the car is, so they can be careful not to hit the car. Also, these lights use so little power that it can be kept on for a while without affecting the charge.
