: If I had taken your advice last year when I got my 528i, I would have been kicking myself silly.
20/20 hindsight isn't terribly helpful when you're trying to decide what to do in the future.
: Your mathematical explanation is based largely on average performances.
My mathematical explanation can be based on nothing but plane old math. It determines what the break-even rate of return will be based on tax rates and the rate of the car loan. You then have to look at the historical rates of return to decide if you can comfortably beat that break even rate of return. If you're expecting over 12% long term then you're foolish. Most professions would call you foolish for expecting 12%.
: I know as of this moment that in the long run the odds are very much in my favor.
In your favor for what? Getting 15%+ long term? No, they most definately are not in your favor for that. Don't take my word on it. Ask your broker or financial planner what long-term ROR it is reasonable to expect.
: I hope the market will treat you as good as it has treated me.
I've done very well. Of course, over the past few years a monkey throwing darts at the financial page would have done very well. Don't make the mistake of assuming that this will continue forever.
