: Well, I'm just gonna comment really quick on this. True, aftermarket audio systems are generally superior (I could vouch for this because I dumped $2000 into one in my previous vehicle. But now that I'm all grown up and moving into a four door,
: I'm content with a good (i.e. upgraded) factory system that has a 4 year warranty and is perfectly integrated with the vehicle. While I am still waiting for my 328i w/ HK (cross your fingers for next month), I have extensive experience with the Bose system in the C280. It's a very "spatial" system. What I mean is that the highs aren't crisp and the lows aren't deep, but the imaging is very, very good and the mids are great. It's a very relaxing system to listen to as opposed to my previous aftermarket system, which was incredibly crisp with the highs and deep with the lows, but gave me a headache after extended listening. I guess this means I'm getting old.

Hi quality HI-FI never produces "listener fatigue". Anything that gives you a headache is probably not accurate sound reproduction - depending on the style of music. You are not getting old, you are becoming more discriminating.
