Can't see what all the bellyaching is about. The E36 was 7 years old. It was fresh in 92, but time marches on. Sorry, but I don't buy this nonsense with the E46 looking Japanese, except for maybe the fact that the Japanese companies update their cars on a shorter cycle than the Germans, so that at any point, their current products never look too old. What do you guys want, that the 3 series turn into a Checker, with the styling never changing from decade to decade?
: : Sales seem to be way up with the new design.
: The E36 also sold much better than the E30.
: With each generation, BMW moves the 3-series more to the mainstream (where the money is). That's good for BMW, but in another generation or two, you won't be able to tell the 3'er from an Accord.
: But, hey, Honda has still sells many more Accords than BMW sells 3's, so the Accord must be better, right (based on your logic)b? No. Just more mainstream.
: Hmmm... Something to think about.
