I didn't want to sell mine directly either (about 5 wks ago), but the wholesaler wanted to give me $8500 for a $13000 car. I said, "no friggin' way." I got $10000 for it thru the classifieds. If you don't want to sell it directly, you will have to bite the bullet on not getting book value...dealers/wholesalers want to make $$ on the resale.
Also, you might consider a charitable donation, and deduct the full value on your tax return.

: I am trading in my 91 Camry. The Kelly Blue book tradein value (not resale value) is $4000. The dealer is quoting 2000. This seems really low. I really want to avoid selling my car myself through the classifieds. Are there any other options in the Bay Area?? Used car lots? Thanks.
