The August 25, 1999 issue of "Auto Motor und Sport" (Issue 18) has a couple of spy shots of a silver E46 convertible doing test laps around the Nuerburgring. The article mentions that the rear window is made out of glass, and is electrically heatable.

I'll try to scan the pictures this weekend...
