Okay, I got a little heat from other BMW enthusiasts for posting an earlier message. I should not have said "Nobody can deny that the New E46 looks better and in my opinion performs better than the older E36". The NOBODY should have been "Most People". To set things straight, and this is just through my experience when researching to buy a new E46, it was clear to me that many previous E36 owners were trading in their cars for the new E46s. When I was out to buy the New-3, there weren't many of them on the lots, 1 maybe 2 at the most, not much of a choice. On the other hand, I was seeing a lot of used E36s on those same lots (double digit numbers). When I finally spoke with a sales person, he said the New-3 was too hot to keep on the lot and my best bet was to order one and wait it out. He also said that a lot of E36s were being traded in for the New-3 and most of these are probably the E36 owners that wanted to upgrade to the 5-series but did not want to spend the extra cash. I like my fathers E36 325is but never considered one because of the small interior space, and the 5-series is out of my price range. When the New-3 came out, it seemed as if BMW read my mind on what needed improvements, more room, quieter ride, more low-end torque, and the dash with wood trim looks great (Dad always compliments the dash when taking it for a spin). Again this is just one of many New-3 owners opinion. It's obvious that BMW does not downgrade when designing new cars and I don't believe that they will start to anytime soon. And about the new gadgets, take a look around, this is all part of evolution. Lets see what others have to say.
