My definition of a true sports car is a car that makes no comprimises in the pursuit of driving fun. M3 sedan and M5 fit this, all the cars in the post above do. But, the 328 and 323 do make comprimises for practicallity and day to day function, which is fine that's the reason why most buy the car. The 323/328 are as close as any day to day practical car has ever gotten to a true sports car.
By the way, my example of the pure true sports car: M coupe and Mazda RX-7 R1.
