Just because a car doesn't fit some purist's definition of the word "sports car," doesn't necessarily mean it has less over-all performance than the "true" sports cars.

Would you call the AMG E55 a sports car? Why or why not? There are at least a handful of non-sports cars out there that can shred some far more sporty rivals. Admittedly, I'm not talking about the E46 specifically.
