Same thing happened to me. On a 4 lane mostly straight stretch of road with no traffic lights / stop signs, there are houses on one side. So they drop a 35 mph zone in the middle of this road. There are no streets / pedestrian crossings opposite the houses.

The natural speed of this road is about 50 mph, which is what everone goes. Every once in a while, the drop a cop on this streatch to make some money. Bet he brings in a couple grand a day.

If they really wanted people to slow down, they should put a light in the middle of the stretch. They don't want to slow people down though, they want to fleece them.

: *ALWAYS* consider road conditions when you drive. 90 mph on a deserted, dry, well-lighted, well-maintained interstate *MAY* be safe. 50 mph in a residential area is *NEVER* safe.
