: I just wrote the $1,000 deposit check for a manual 2000 BMW 323Ci with Topaz Blue/Sand Leatherette, Sport, HK, and CD. Can you say enthusiast special! This is my first BMW and hope the experience goes as planned. I want to thank all of the board posters who assisted me in the decision. I sold a 1998 Ford Contour SVT for this car. I must say that the SVT (no flames) is an extremely fun car to drive, but simply lacks the refinement and reliability that BMW offers. I sold the car with 28,000 miles on it and it creaked, squeaked, and moaned over all bumps...nothing more annoying than that! I will miss the sweet sound of that engine though!

I just ordered a very similar 323Ci in black, although I also went for the sunroof. This car is also set to replace a 1998 Contour SVT. I agree on all points; the Contour is an impressive performer for a relatively small amount of money, but when looking at the details, it's relatively easy to see why the CSVT costs so much less.
