Personally, if I had the money, I mean, I'd get the 528i. It's bigger, nicer, and I LOVE the way it looks. Of course, if performance was a major issue, get the 328i. Same engine + less weight to pull = better performance in every measurable way. Here's the question for you- are you going to haul passengers frequently? The 5 has much more space. Also, since the 5 isn't as new as the 328i, you probably could get a better deal than you could get on a 3-series, narrowing the price differential.
